Mount Dobson is a ski resort in the South Island of New Zealand. Located 2.25 hours from Christchurch and 3 hours from Queenstown, it claims an easy access road, the highest car park of any ski resort in New Zealand. There are 10 km of slopes available and 4 lifts. The winter sports area are available between the elevations of 1692 and 2046 m.

Mt. Dobson in Canterbury is arguably one of the best ski fields in New Zealand, with uncrowded slopes and incredible views of Lake Pukaki, Aoraki/Mount Cook, and the Two Thumb mountain range. Perfect for beginner through advanced skiers and snowboarders, Dobson offers beginner terrain parks, challenging steeps, and a variety of family-friendly activities. Along with 14 groomed runs, there are numerous backcountry routes and plenty of terrain parks, ski-cross courses, and gladed areas to explore.
Mount Dobson is a great spot for keen hikers of all levels. Located in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island, the mountain is an ancient volcano, with its volcanic peak rising 1,744 meters above sea level. The Mount Dobson hiking trails offer spectacular views of the surrounding Southern Alps and the pleasant farmland below, which is especially stunning during sunrise and sunset. Some of the popular trails around Mount Dobson include the Merino Hills, the Craigieburn Valley, and the Lyell Creek Adventure Trail. Each of these trails offers something different, allowing hikers to explore the mountain's unique topography, vegetation, and wildlife. All trails are well-marked, and the more difficult hikes should always be started with proper knowledge and preparation.
