Snowbird is an unincorporated community in Little Cottonwood Canyon in the Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountains near Salt Lake County, Utah, U.S. It is most famous for Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, an alpine skiing and snowboarding area, which opened in December 1971.

Sandy has many great hiking spots that provide amazing views, as well as chances for exploration. Popular trails include The Bonneville Shoreline Trail, which stretches from the Idaho border to Nephi and winds its way through mountain canyons, pine forests, and meadows. This trail is generally easier and more accessible that other popular trails in the area, making it an ideal destination for hikers of all levels. Other trails suitable for all skill levels include Stewart Falls Trail and Pleasant Grove Canyon Trail. There are also a variety of more challenging routes, such as The Gear up Trail, Dog Lake Trail and Mt. Timpanogos Trail, for more experienced hikers.
Sandy, Utah is home to some of the best skiing in the U.S. Snowbird Ski Resort, located 30 minutes southeast of Salt Lake City, is a popular ski destination due to its over 3,000 acres of snow to play in and its annual 500 inches of snowfall. With terrain for all levels of skiers and riders, Snowbird offers steeps and powdery bowls, groomed runs, and five high-speed lifts. With additional terrain parks, a tubing hill, a ski school, and an area specifically dedicated to kids, Snowbird offers something for everyone.
