Obertauern, Salzburg, Austria is a premier ski resort renowned for its excellent snow record, varied terrain, and numerous modern ski lifts. The ski area itself is spread across four parallel valleys and offers over 100 km of varied ski runs suitable for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. From gentle forest trails to exhilarating black runs, Obertauern has something for everyone. The resort is usually open from late November to late April and is equipped with many well-maintained ski lodges and snow-making facilities. During the winter months, visitors can also enjoy snowshoeing, winter hiking, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, and other winter activities.
Obertauern is a beautiful mountain village in Austria nestled in the Salzburg Alps. It is known for its world-class skiing and winter sports opportunities, but there are great places to go walking and hiking in Obertauern too. There are more than 400 km of well-marked hiking trails around the village with varying levels of difficulty, some leading up to the peak of Mount Grosseck at 2,471 m above sea level. In summer, alpine meadows and picturesque mountain lakes offer the perfect opportunity for a hike, whilst stunning panoramic views over the snow-capped peaks of the surrounding mountain range create an unforgettable experience.
